Castro: High Fidelity Podcasts App Reviews

I own all the top-rated podcast apps and occasionally try switching on major updates, but I always come back to Castro. Its beautifully designed, with attention not only to how it looks and feels, but to what options it makes available and what defaults it assumes. In a PC world of ugly, ambiguous, complicated, and fiddly Podcast apps, Castro is the Mac.

This app is really well designed. Works great!

Phenomenal app. Super reliable. Easy to use. Looks great. The team behind this should be in charge of IOS in general.

I have tried a lot of the podcast apps on the store. Castro is by far my favorite.

Castro is not the most full-featured podcast player out there, but what it does it does flawlessly. The app is beautiful. The typography in particular is unique. Its clear that the creators have thoughtfully distilled the podcast listening experience to a few key actions and not overburdened the app with countless options and menu screens. Castro eschews the norms of iOS design, so it may take you a few days to get used to the app, but its worth it.

Used to work great but the recent update causes the app to crash immediately.

Love the design & functionality of this app. Has become my daily driver & is the best podcast app on iOS IMHO. Terrific at what is does. Are there features missing that Im looking for? Sure but only two & theyre not that big of a deal. 1) Dark setting. maybe like Tweetbots? 2) Ability to auto play & reorder episodes. Dont need or want a playlist, just want to re prioritize play order. Thats it, no deal killers. Pretty close to the perfect podcast app for me!

A great update to an already excellent app. Im very happy to become a patron and support the hard work these guys are doing, even though I already paid for the app when it first came out. Donating a few bucks is certainly worth it for the daily enjoyment of using this app to listen to quality podcasts. Looking forward to paying again for Castro 2. If youre looking for an easy-to-use podcast app thats also beautifully designed, this is the one for you.

V1.5 crashes on launch!

I have been liking this app and would be happy to write a positive review when this is fixed. Current version keeps crashing and wont play after pausing without reopening the app and manually playing. Terrible experience!

All of a sudden I cant listen to podcasts on the background without it crashing. Ive restarted the phone several times and its only happening with Castro.

Cant even use the app for more than a few seconds before it closes unexpectedly. I loved the previous version. I wish I didnt install this one.

Ive purchased this app when it first came out and never had any issues with it. The latest update is causing it to crash after being launched for a few seconds. iPhone 6+/ iOS 9

Like the interface but the app crashes when I try searching for podcast.

Freezes then crashes.Please fix!

I listen to podcasts probably 5+ hours a day. Castro was my go-to app because of its beautiful design and features. Since the most recent update though the app stops playing for no reason and/or crashes after playing for a few seconds. Update: I contacted support and they said they found the problem and would be fixing it in the next release once it passes Through Apples submission process.

Not a bad podcast app, but not as good as others. Could use improvements to navigation and more stability. I crashed the app in mid podcast three times this morning, will wait for next version. Back to Overcast and Pocketcast.

These guys are truly talented. This is one of the most beautiful, simplest interfaces Ive ever seen.

I love this app. very simple, and easy to use. one thing I wished it had was syncing by account or across devices. thats the only thing I miss.
